I finished the pillow part of this creation today on my Mom's birthday. I had been working on the very "crewel" embroidery off and on for about a year. The leaves were incredibly tedious, and the cat was intimidating. I have never shaded anything this complicated freehand before, though I was working off of a rough transfer sketch. Here enjoying other accoutrements of the day is my Mom's little buddy who demanded I stitch this.

Tee hee! Actually he refused to eat cake, and the photo is staged... I set the cake by his bowl of friskies.
