I'm going with knitpicks Wool of the Andes for this project. It was economical and beautiful. I swatched a range of stripe variations and simple colorwork before settling on the 1x1 rows of scarlet and gray. I was afraid anything with floats could catch the rifle on the inside of the bag/sock, and there were gaps with bigger stripes. This is nice and simple.

Gun Sock in prep

Are you making up the pattern? A good friend who shoots skeet made a joke about me knitting one and I'm at a loss re: size, shape, etc...
